Eco Mariner Evaluation
Out of the three UDUTU evaluations this program, the Eco Mariner, has been the best. There wasn't anything that went wrong with this program. The program contained a lot of information but was interesting and kept my attention. Eco Mariner was also offered in Spanish and contained many different types of media. The variety of media included audio, images, music, text, video and interactive animations. Since viewers need to sigh up for this program it remembered where the viewer left off. So if you had stopped the program and returned back to it it starts off where you left off. Although since the program also offered a course map it allows you to navigate to any section of the program at any time.
The entire program was consistent in every way. The program followed a clear structure, format, and was sequential. The program starts off clear, the introduction automatically transitions at beginning and lead into the explanation of the buttons while showing screen captures images a well. A few of the great features of this program are the variety of roll overs and links with in pages. On some of the roll overs the same image appears on the right side and the left side changes according to what each link is talking about. Having the same images is beneficial also because the viewer sees them again in the assessment. The other feature that I liked was on the assessment when you got an answer wrong a boxed popped up and said what page you could find the information on.
Compared to the Anchors UDUTU program that had pages that contained to much text on one page this program didn't. The Eco Mariner program used the roll over effect to put more text on pages but didn't make the page feel crowded. The only errors or issues that I saw with the program was when I got to one section towards the end every time I went to a new page a box popped that stated "unable to find UDUTU_API" not sure what it meant but everything still appeared to be working properly. The only thing was all of the assessments expect for one was multiple choice.
Overall, I really enjoyed this UDUTU program. The creative layouts and effects really gained the viewers attention. It's instructional design was pleasing and not croweded.
